The Lindley is slated to open Fall 2018 and will be perhaps the first affordable housing development in the nation to include private equity as a source of development funds. A public-private partnership with EYA Developers and the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation is providing the support to construct this first-class, mixed-income community in the heart of Chevy Chase.

The ceremony was attended by two of HOC’s Commissioners – Jackie Simon, Chair and Richard imagejpeg_0.pngNelson, Chair Pro Tem; as well as members of HOC’s staff including – Stacy Spann, Executive Director, Shauna Sorrells, Director of Legislative and Public Affairs, Clarence Landers, Program Oversight Manager and Charnita Jackson, Asset Manager.

Stacy Spann had this to say about the Topping Out milestone, “This property is the result of an innovative and collaborative partnership that brings together world-class design and community development expertise. It will have an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of everyone in this area, including many of the most vulnerable people in Montgomery County.”

Stacy continued, “We’re excited to celebrate this important milestone which marks the culmination of many months of hard work. We’re doing more than building a place for people to live, we’re creating opportunities for individuals to thrive and fulfill their potential.”

Once complete, The Lindley will house 200 luxury apartments, 40 of which will be affordable to households at 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) and 40 will be workforce housing. The larger community will be comprised of 62 luxury homeowner brownstones, including a number of which will be Moderately Priced Dwelling Units (MPDU) as part of the county’s inclusive development requirements.

Once home to 68 garden-style apartments, The Lindley will be adjacent to the Purple Line and include a half-acre park as a nexus for socializing and encouraging community connection. This new development will transform the area into a vibrant neighborhood when it opens its doors.
