HOC Employment Initiative Program

Opening the Door to New Opportunities...

The Employment Initiative Program (EIP) assists HOC residents in obtaining skills and experiences necessary for successful employment. Our goal is to help individuals enter careers that offer good wages and upward mobility. Since its inception 20 years ago, EIP has helped thousands of residents advance their skills and become gainfully employed.

We offer:

  • Specialized career planning and job readiness workshops

  • Ongoing weekly Employment Support Groups

  • Individual career counseling and coaching

  • Ongoing computer training in today’s most commonly used computer applications

  • Business communication classes

  • Tuition assistance for qualified individuals

  • Supportive services such as transportation and child care assistance (for qualified individuals)

  • Referrals to community resources

  • Assistance with job and internship placement

  • Retention and advancement services

  • Annual job fair and educational forum

  • Summer Youth program for public housing residents

We partner with:

  • Educational institutions and community organizations, such as Johns Hopkins University, Howard University, local community colleges and One-Stop Centers

  • Businesses such as Adventist and Suburban Hospital, Marriott Corporation, and Guardian Fire
