ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must reside in a housing unit that is assisted by HOC (voucher, tax credit, subsidies, etc.) in order to be eligible. If you are unsure about your eligibility please contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Eligible high school seniors who will attend college in the fall 2024, must demonstrate that they:

  • Achieved academic excellence
  • Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities
  • Completed generous hours of student service learning (SSL) in Montgomery County

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Complete online application form here

  2. Attach the mandatory documents:
    • Two letters of recommendation (academic, personal or professional)
    • Official high school transcript
    • Proof of completed SSL hours
    • Resume or a Statement of Work/volunteer experience
    • Letter of acceptance from a college or university for fall 2024 (If not available at the time of application, the acceptance letter must be submitted by June 1, 2024) 

  3. Submit ONE required essay:
    • Must be 500-750 words (essays less than 500 words will not be accepted)
    • Essay must be typed using Calibri font, size 11
    • Original composition that shows high school senior level writing skills
    • Choose ONE of the following topics for your essay:
      • Describing your background, explain how you have demonstrated leadership and overcame obstacles either through school, social and/or family life. 
      • If you had the opportunity to implement a new impactful change within your community, city, or the world, what would you choose?

ABOUT

Each year, this scholarship program honors the memory of Tony S. Davis, an HOC staff member, who was tragically killed in 2000 while defending the residents of his community from danger.

Note:  Applicants are encouraged to complete the application with attached documents all together in one online session.
