HOC Welcomes New Commissioner
Pamela Byrd is a longtime volunteer dedicated to serving families in Montgomery County

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, the Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) of Montgomery County welcomed Pamela Byrd as a new Commissioner to the agency.

Pamela Byrd was appointed to the Commission in April 2016.  Ms. Byrd is a longtime volunteer in Montgomery County and has served with the American Red Cross, Board of Elections and the Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  She is currently a board member with her homeowner’s association where she works to preserve and enhance her community in Silver Spring.

Commissioner Byrd is an expert in the Information Technology field and works for a company that manages and protects information and communications infrastructure for government agencies and commercial companies. Her knowledge will help guide HOC as we seek and implement new and advanced technology to better serve our clients.

“Pamela Byrd is an excellent addition to the Commission and we are grateful to have her expertise and experience,’” said HOC Chair Sally Roman. “I thank County Executive Ike Leggett and the Montgomery County Council for selecting someone who is truly dedicated to making a difference in this community. I look forward to working with her on the Commission.”

Commissioner Byrd’s term will expire on August 31, 2018.

HOC’s mission is to provide affordable housing and supportive services that enhance the lives of low- and moderate-income families and individuals throughout Montgomery County.  To achieve this mission, HOC operates as a public housing agency, a housing finance agency and a housing developer that serves more than 30,000 people in Montgomery County.
