Program Description: | Need to know how to find and navigate available resources? Resident Services will host monthly resource sharing sessions. This is an opportunity for participants to learn about available resources in Montgomery County and at HOC, including food resources, wellness, financial assistance resources for emergencies, employment, tuition assistance, etc. The sessions are offered on the third Tuesday of each month in the evening. Staff will provide information on how to navigate services. This will also provide a space for participants to inquire about their resource needs. In addition, this will be an opportunity for participants to learn about the services offered by the Resident Services Division. Must register online to participate. Registered participants will receive virtual instructions. |

Program Description: | Everyone needs safe, decent and stable housing. This interactive workshop focuses on the agency’s mission in keeping residents housed in the various housing programs that the Housing Opportunities Commission has to offer. The workshop attempts to empower participants with information that will assist them in being successful with housing. The workshop combines effective strategies and information on available resources that can help a resident to successfully maintain his/her housing. Participants will develop a better understanding of his/her housing program and guidelines and the rights and responsibilities outlined in a lease. Must register online to participate. Program Description: The Resident Services Office is hosting a Virtual Financial Literacy Information sessions for Adults. Introduction to Financial Coaching. Helping participant understand financial accountability and financial challenges to building financial wellness. Introducing one-on-one coaching for participants. financial landscape. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about managing their finances, learn how to budget to help pay for rent and utilities, learn how to access resources to help increase income. This virtual information session is facilitated by resident service counsel Shirley Benning
The virtual informational sessions will be held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Program Description: | The Reality Store aims to give teens knowledge and perspective on what it is like to live and work as an adult. All the teens will get to pick a career and various life necessities and luxuries. They will then learn how much life can cost and will have the opportunity to explore positive money habits to manage those costs through a weekly program. This program will also offer additional teachings and insights on financial concepts such as budgeting, taxes, and insurance. |
